He managed the Corvette service center for Eckler’s and has worked behind the scenes at Greenwood Automotive. Currently, Petris is a contributing technical editor for Auto Enthusiast magazine. He has also been a Bloomington Gold School technical instructor for 11 years.

Review of restore C2 book.

Too much of the book focuses on high level painting, fiberglass, and expert needed knowledge. I was hoping for more items to and details to be in the book about restoring other parts.

Also would be more helpful if they included a specific section of items that decrease value if removed and items that do not affect value of car but should be updated with modern technology.

I find I can't get up much enthusiasm for rules," cultural anthropologist Margaret Mead wrote in 1933, in a letter addressed to her female lover, Ruth Benedict, about the tension between her then husband, Reo Fortune, and future husband, Gregory Bateson. A free but highly disciplined spirit dedicated to discovering new cultures and practicing the tenets of open love, Mead was also a prolific writer, whose collected letters have been combined into one volume by Caffrey and Francis, respectively an associate professor at the University of Memphis and curator of a Mead exhibit at the Library of Congress. Assembled with the aid of Mary Catherine Bateson, Mead's only daughter, the cultural anthropologist's vivid dispatches have been categorized by recipient. Addressees include her Philadelphia family, all three of her husbands and several lovers, both male and female, on topics ranging from changing colleges to quelling rumors about her numerous affairs. While Mead's personal relationships tend to be the focus, these connections (particularly with her second and third husbands) were closely intertwined with her professional life. But there is little doubt as to Mead's true obsession: as the writer herself noted to Benedict in 1928, "I think the work is so much more important than any personal issue." Photos. (July)

Margaret Caffrey is an associate professor of history at the University of Memphis and the author of a book about Margaret Mead's mentor, colleague, and lover, entitled Ruth Benedict: Stranger in This Land. She lives in Memphis, Tennessee. Patricia Francis was curator of "Margaret Mead: Human Nature and the Power of Culture," an exhibition at the Library of Congress, in 2002. She lives in Washington, D.C.

Very informative and organized. I read this after reading Lily King's Euphoria, and "Cherish" greatly enhanced my appreciation for Euphoria. MM was a fascinating woman; so enjoyable to read her letters.

One of the basic practices of Buddhism is to remain mindful, and one way this is achieved is simply through reminders. Josh Bartok, a publishing-house editor and practitioner of Zen Buddhism, has mined the literature for a yearlong collection of daily reminders. Ranging in length from a sentence to a short page, these reminders include poetry,meditation instruction, practical advice, and thoughts on the way things are. A cynic might notice that all of the selections are from books published by the editor's own press, and therefore dismiss the book as a sly attempt at self-promotion, but when the selections are brilliant quotes from the likes of Ayya Khema, Alan Wallace, Milarepa, Henepola Gunaratana, Martine Batchelor, and the Dalai Lama, one wishes to read them rather than dismiss them. In beautiful verse, the Chinese poet Chia Tao tells of a bell heard during a stroll in the mountains at daybreak. The monk Henepola Gunaratana reminds us that "pain is inevitable, suffering is not." About the Author
Josh Bartok has served as in-house staff editor at Wisdom for almost 13 years and has worked on almost 200 books in all traditions of Buddhism. He is the co-author, with Ezra Bayda, of Saying Yes To Life (Even the Hard Parts), and the authoring editor of Daily Doses of Wisdom, Daily Wisdom, More Daily Wisdom, Lama Zopa Rinpoche's How to Be Happy, and Lama Yeshe's When the Chocolate Runs Out.

He is also head teacher and spiritual director at the Greater Boston Zen Center, and one of the guiding teachers of Boundless Way Zen. He is a full member of the Soto Zen Buddhist Association and the American Zen Teachers Association, and is a friend of the Lay Zen Teachers Association. Josh has served on the Board of Directors for the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies, and on the planning committee of the first-ever Next-Generation Dharma Teachers event, part of the Mahasangha Gathering that took place at Garrison Institute in July of 2011.

Josh graduated from Vassar College in 1993 with a degree in cognitive science. Recreationally, Josh is an amateur photographer who shows locally and regionally. His work is influenced by John Daido Loori, Kaz Tanahashi, as well as sumi-e and abstract expressionist painters. His photos can be seen online at shobophoto.com.

I love this book!

I have loved this book since I got it when it first came out. I have read it over and over and each time a year has gone by and I find myself on the same date again, the meditation seems to have a new meaning for me.

I once recall talking about this book to the housekeeper at an Inn where we were staying over New Years. She had remembered the book from a previous visit and said something like "you must really like that book". I told her I truly treasured it that it helped me though each day and that it was my favorite meditation book.

That afternoon I left the book on the table in the room and went for a walk while she cleaned the room. I came back to find a note on the table explaining that she had accidently spilled the water in the flower arrangement and it had soaked the book (which was sitting there indeed soaked). She explained that she would be back to finish the room in about 2 hours as she was making a trip to town. And indeed, she returned from the 90 mile round trip to town where she found a little store that had the book and brought back a brand new one.

I have many other "daily books" but this still continues to be the best and gives me the most peace & help being mindful.

Calming moments available

A gentle introduction to a Buddhist world view. I love the fact that these very short thoughts come from many different authors within the Buddhist tradition. Too often devotional readings from any tradition give the view of one PERSON from the tradition. This short devotional gives the reader an introduction to many writers within the tradition, both ancient and modern, and helps the reader identify writers they may want to explore further.

Reading this with my son!

I'm using this book as the basis for a weekly call with my 48 year-old son who I see only a few times a year. He is a casual Buddhist and I'm a somewhat more committed Taoist. These readings and our conversations about them are a huge highlight in our growing adult relationship - even when we don't agree or understand. Perhaps especially then. As spiritual stimulus, I find the daily readings to be invaluable.
