About the Author
Becky Patterson is a textile artist who specializes in large machine-appliquéd tapestries. She is also a well-known liturgical artist and designer, having done stained glass windows and furnishings for churches all over Texas. She is the owner of Stieler Hill Ranch with her two sons Kit and Sky Patterson. She helps out with the activities on the ranch: the SASS Texican Shooting Club, the hunters, range leasers, her husband’s horse training business, and art workshops.

Wonderful view into life on the Ranch

All I had to do was read half way through an article about this book to know that I wanted to read it, immediately! I will update this post in a few days as I finish reading it. From what I have read so far, this book is absolute a treasure! My grand parents lived outside of Kerrville so this area of Texas already had special meaning to me. This book is a perfect gift for a proud Texas, proud rancher, a Texan at heart, anyone that respects the hard work of others, or anyone wanting experience another way of life...ah...so that is just about everyone...right? LOL

I love it! So enjoyed Becky's book about her father

I love it! So enjoyed Becky's book about her father, and this book gives such a great insight into the lives of these German-American pioneers in the Hill Country. She writes with such love mixed with candor about her people and their lives, their love for their land.

The book was truly an experience for me. All my life I have heard about Schatzie. My father was Bob Sherman, son of the Methodist minister in Comfort. I killed my first deer on the ranch and lopped cedar for the privilege. The Hill Country is heaven on Earth to me and Becky's text gave it heart and soul. My family visited Hondo and Schatzie when we were very young. I remember spicy aromatic cookies baking and a visit to my first basement where there was a loom. Thank you for the spirit of this book.
