interesting honest insights into Algeria 1954-62

This was written almost as a poetic refrain as the writer returns to scenes with gentle regularity as if to consolidate them in his and our consciousness. The episode in history that he is unravelling is delicate and harsh but he does not give way to anger or intolerance. He dips into and hints at appalling scenes that took place involving his country and his family. He seems to want to reach an understanding with his cousin and soul mate without rancour.
