Heutzutage ist das nachhaltige Bewusstsein der Bevölkerung, vor allem in den Industriestaaten, ausgeprägter als je zuvor, dieses macht für ein Unternehmen sehr schwer verantwortungslos zu handeln und sich auf Dauer nur auf den finanziellen Erfolg zu konzentrieren. Fast alle großen Unternehmen aber auch eine wachsende Zahl von mittelständischen Betrieben erstellen mittlerweile einen CSR-Bericht, wo sie dokumentieren, wie verantwortungsbewusst sie mit ihrer Umwelt, ihren Mitarbeitern, Kunden, Investoren und Geschäftspartnern umgehen. Sie machen es nicht nur um die Erwartungen ihrer Stakeholder zu erfüllen, sondern auch um sich auf die zukünftigen Entwicklungen und Herausforderungen vorzubereiten. Diese vorausschauenden Unternehmen schaffen sich große Wettbewerbsvorteile gegenüber anderen Unternehmen und sichern sich somit die Voraussetzungen auf eine erfolgreiche Zukunft.
